North Yorkshire County Council have also supplied the following information:

We have decided to suspend our current 2 evening per week NYCC 4Youth Service provision for young people aged 13-19 yrs in the Tockwith Village Hall, pending the implementation of a satisfactory management arrangement for our Service to the young people operating within these premises.

This action has been has been necessary as a direct result of concerns raised by a quality assurance inspection of the Tockwith Youth Club earlier this year by officers of the 4Youth Service and the current leader’s reluctance to implement with any authority any of the recommendations arising from the inspection report.

The situation has been highlighted further by issues raised more recently by the officers of the Village Hall Committee and by the Tockwith Parish Council.

I wish to assure you and the local population that the 4Youth Service is making every effort to resolve the current temporary closure and we have the support of the Village Hall Committee for the continuing use of the premises in the future. In order to maintain some contact with the young people of the village we will be making some temporary provision in the Village Hall car park via the Youth Mobile project which will be staffed by qualified youth workers.
